CRICKET AUSTRALIA ANNOUNCES RETURN OF POOL DECK AT THE GABBA

Cricket Australia has today confirmed the return of the hugely popular Pool Deck at the Gabba for both the Magellan Ashes Test and the One Day International being hosted in Brisbane this summer.

The award-winning Pool Deck at the Gabba was one of the hits of last summer, with cricket patrons given the chance to enjoy international cricket in truly unique surrounds and images of fans relaxing in the cool comfort of the pool or the lounges on the decks shared around the country and around the world. Given the great popularity of the initiative, the Pool Deck is making a return to add to what is expected to be an already electric atmosphere at match this summer.

The Pool Deck at the Gabba will be built inside the stadium and will feature a six metre by eight metre tiered pool and two large tiered decks with seating, tables and shade, giving fans the chance to escape the heat with a dip in the pool and relax in comfort while enjoying world class international cricket action. Fans will have the chance to get on the deck throughout the first Test of the Magellan Ashes Series, commencing on 23 November 2017, and the One Day International on 19 January 2018. In addition, fans of the Brisbane Heat can look forward to the Pool Deck being in place throughout the KFC Big Bash League season.

Cricket Australia General Manager, Events and Leagues, Anthony Everard, said it is exciting to be bringing back the Pool Deck at the Gabba again this season.

“The introduction of the Pool Deck last year was hugely popular and we are very happy to be giving our fans what they want and bringing back the pool for this summer. The imagery last year of fans cooling off in the pool while watching enthralling cricket matches was wonderful to see, and I am sure that there are plenty of English fans in particular who are eager for their chance to get on the deck this summer and have a reprieve from the Australian summer heat.”

To have a chance to spend some time on the Pool Deck at the Gabba at both the Magellan Ashes Test and One Day International, fans are encouraged to come to the match in their best pool attire and they could be randomly selected from the crowd for an upgrade to the Pool Deck, and share a photo of themselves ready for the pool using the hashtag #cricketpooldeck.
